I just posted a sweet article on the primary indicator Jay and I use. You can check out the full text (along with a simple version too) here at:
The Allen Brothers
Or, here is the you tube video I loaded up:
It is a great indicator because it can be made as small or as large as you want. The super micro versions are awesome for sight nymphing to delicate fish, or you can make them large enough to float just about any amount of weight.
Hope it helps,

Oh yeah - I'm all over that! Dude...that is brilliant. I love the ability to make it as small as I need to. I used to buy the smaller pinch-on foam indicators and wound up trimming them down anyway, so this is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteYeah, sometimes I'll even make them so small they don't float much weight, but the submerged, white, indicator still gives me a reference for where my size 24 midge is at ... if that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteThat makes a lot of sense. About the only thing I use my indicator for is to get a sense of where my fly is actually at. If memory serves me correct (and that's a big IF...) I've only seen my indicator 'show' a hit only a few times.
ReplyDeleteSo I got some foam and I have some tubing....I'll be ready to hit it up next time I'm on the water.
